A high-relief ceramic multi-media piece done for Ceramics II.....and I chose to use my crazy sculpture Professor for inspiration.
The Intro to sculpture kids are TERRIFIED of Phoebe-- she's not a bull shit professor. She means business and if business means taking a sledge hammer to your project- she'll do it and light it on fire too xD. I have a LOT of respect for this woman and I have grown as a person since knowing her. She watches over us sculpture kids like a hawk and skwawks at us like a drill sergeant. her room is Art Boot Camp. The piece is an exaggeration of her quirks and her lack of mercy.
I included some photos of Phoebe (and its not normal for her to NOT be clashing in fashion) for reference. The piece is made of bisque clay, doll hair and copper wire. Painted with acrylic and room temperature glazes.'
and yes....the photo doesnt show it but her hair DOES stick up like that a lot....especially after having a welding helmet on lol.....it scares the freshmen xD
There's Phoebe- and then there's.....THE Phoebe. She's about 7 1/2 inches tall and she fits almost anywhere. Now she can watch u from high places >>.
I find this to be an absolutely....amazing piece of clay work. Look at that detail, and the anatomy, the clothing ripples/creases and the bracelet, the shoes, everything takes on the look and feel of what they are representing - metal, leather, fabric, hair, etc.
PLUS her expression, It almost looks like she's doing a MISSION IMPOSSIBLE, sliding along a wall - on a ledge that is like 40 storeys high XD
It's so damn good. I would put it in a clay-animation/stop motion picture...as some scary lady in the film XD
Did your professor get to see this piece? Does she know it's of herself? =3
Haha what a great sculpture! And wow does that teacher sound like a character. No doubt you've captured that clearly in your work here. I love her expression!
whoaw!!! omg! i love it!!! Looks totally awesome! man i can so envision you making a stop motion film or any form of animation with your art! xD keep up the awesome work!
