Score: Cats 1 : Dogs 0  And the Siamese are taking over!

Just kidding. But I seriously wanted to do a piece with a little more time put into it- and I've been dying to crack out my watercolors. Luckily I had the time to do so over Thanksgiving Break.

This is a portrait of Emperor Xaio's sister, Hsaio- who would later become Empress of Hunshu and Suchow's wife.....and of course Ting Tang's great great great great....grandmother. The Takai Hu is one of the Two Rivers that cut through the island of Hunshu....and I'm having fun naming feline ladies after rivers.

*Kizamaji was over my house on Tuesday and she watched me draw the lineart. This was rendered in colored pencil, then doused with watercolor washes overtop-- and then a little bit of digital touch up.

It's a bout time I did an Anthro piece that took me at least 10 hours to finish. :giggle:

:star: will be available for Print soon! :star:

This is an excellent use of watercolour, and the lighting is fantabulous, dear ;D

However, I think her arm-to-leg proportion is a little too long, too short. The entirety of the upper body is balanced well with this sort of swoopy elegant look, whereas the bottom is cut off too short by the stubbiness of her legs.

I think by perhaps shortening the arms, her proportions would be a lot more evened out and realistic. As is the nature of this drawing, yes? ^^

I see what you are saying here. But when I did the original gesture drawing of the form- I kept the anatomy of the feline back legs- They are in essence not short- but bent. you can sort of see the back of the heel on her right side (the leg/foot that is in shadow).

This will create the illusion that her legs are shorter than her arms- it's all about balancing truths. ;) That distance from the knee to the heel is what compromises her height. Unlike a lot of anthro artists, I try to retain as mush truth to the animal anatomy as I can- even if it may not make sense right away.
Thanks so much for the nice feedback :D
