Halla Gshep- Bodysuit! by Katmomma Halla Gshep- Bodysuit! by Katmomma
First full fursuit/costume! I say first full fursuit with fur because my first "fullsuit" was my Princess Luna cosplay which was done with fleece and no fur. I still have some tweaking to do- especially in the front. I did a front zipper but it's not as well hidden as I would have liked it to be. If I feel ambitious, I'll try to take the zipper back out and install it in a side seam instead.
For a first bodysuit with fur, I'm about 95% happy.

Check out some of my other costume work!

I don't have a reason to show myself off :B I'd rather people focus on my work instead of what I look like. But if you must know, I have a photo on my portfolio website. marilyncole.daportfolio.com/ab…

I bet that right along the seam between the light and dark fur would probably allow you to comb the longer black fur over it and hide it. Only problem, when using the zipper, having long fur around it makes it really tricky to work without zipping the fur up in it.

while great, it reminds me that suits still seem to be perma-stuck with one failing: only one expression all the time.

Sometimes it's a trick of the camera lens. Much of what makes a fursuit come alive is the body language in how you move. It compensates for fixed face and the expressions are inferred through the imagination of the viewer. Still photography has a way of erasing that language of implied expression. Personally I can generally make Tycho Aussie look happy, sad, angry, and emotions in-between simply in how I hold my arms, stand, and look at my subject of interest.   However that said, wouldn't it be interesting to have miniaturized electronics for manipulating actuators within the mask to blink the eyes, and move the contours of the face in a realistic manner?

That's why good body language is important in mascot/fursuiting. Having a moving jaw is helpful too.

Oh wow, I love it! I always see huge, plushy, toony feet (which still ARE super cute, but are SO common), but never ones that are so nice and realistic like those! Did you  simply build them over a smaller shoe, like flats, or was it something as basic as using smaller amounts of foam? Haha sorry for my nosiness, I'm just so curious!

It's a combination of using less foam and small comfy canvas sneakers. mommashaus.tumblr.com/post/732…
