Let me emphasize how grey made from a variety of low intensity colors is so much better than mixing black and white together in a full-color piece .This wolf can account for that. Colored pencils are a medium that requires several layers to begin withso exercising the properties of color theory makes this wolf a nice guinea pig for experimentation.
Some of you have asked me about greys--- and how to work with them. Ill tell you this- it aint easy. But by playing around with this wolf, I think I just learned more about greys than I had ever known. Colors I used? Wellhere they are: (prismacolors) Ginger Root French Grey 20% French Grey 70% Imperial Violet Violet Blue Dark Sepia Terra Cotta Sienna Brown Sand Crimson Red Vermillion Apple Green
Those colors may surprise you .or not. But all of them layered together makes a pretty nice grey. Call this wolf a color experiment Actually, Id like to dedicate this piece to all of my wolf-loving buddies! Katmomma may have a fondness for cats--- but she can sure draw a helluva nice canine!ahh what the heck- I love all animals! Thanks again for all of your suggestions when I posted the line art.
.between you and me . I like traditional better anyway.
OH this is so good! This grey is a lot richer than the normal grey, the result is very smooth and.. well.. colorfull And yet again you amaze me with your shading skills... I bow to your talent

Another example of a great piece of artwork by the eponymous feline matron.
I particularly love the way that all of those different colours have been precisely blended to give an amazingly lifelike traditional look to our Lupine friend here, it just goes to show the things that you can do with some graphite and an imagination.
I also think that the position and posture of the character in question is very true to reality, I've seen wolves sit like this not only in Zoo's and on Television, but in other situations that are more conductive to the wellbeing of the animal itself.
aww... I appreciate all of your support, Pintas! You have commented on almost everything I do- and you are such a great friend and person! I can't wait til I start working on your trade-- because I really want to make it special.
......I see a few other comments from you here in my messages... *gives a great-big-hug!* Thank you!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
