Here are some Gesture Drawing samples and Line Energy examples for you to look at while =Kizamaji and I are preparing a film tutorial for you
Gesture drawing is so much fun- and it is so easy once you can grasp the concept-- it makes your drawing time divide in half-- so you get the form you want down on paper quickly and efficiently. all it needs is:
1. Treat the subject you are drawing as a SHAPE not a thing. Do not label body parts- treat them as shapes.
2. Line Energy is the key for movement. Learn and experiment with pressure applied to the pencil and lifting off. (pretend your pencil tip is a little airplane).
3. Be Loose! High pressured stiff lines will NOT YIELD GOOD RESULTS.....it will look yucky.
4. Work from GENERAL - to- SPECIFIC. Your first line should be the line of the overall gesture- Never work in details too soon. keep building on shapes by drawing through the form-- and little by little, you shall discover the truth!
So have a little fun with this- next time your bored in class, practice some swirlys......and like the image points out; I'm not talking about the toilet kind.
I swear.... Kadabra Man was sooooo random. I couldn't resist. XD ....and yes Farts have Gesture too. It's proven in the Education world that people learn best with a little humor......so I enjoyed myself making this for you. hehe.
Your comments really made this piece...I really like the idea of my pencil tip taking off like an airplane and discovering the truth xD Thanks for your imput!
